That movie was great! Right!

8. Pumped-is a feeling of total excitement.

I am really pumped to go to the party.

Are you pumped to go shopping?

9. Yo-used instead of hi or hello. I used this in the 90’s but I rarely use this term now.

Yo how’s it going?

Yo how are you?

Idioms

7. Sicker than a dog-means you are really sick. This idiom came to be because dogs rarely get sick and when they do it’s really bad.

I can’t go to work today because I am sicker than a dog.

How are you? I am sicker than a dog.

8. Bend over backwards-To do a lot of things for a person or group. You can use it as a negative or a positive. However a lot of people use it as a negative.

My Dad turns 60

coollogo_com-16071111

When did that happen?

My dad turned 60 on Jan. 24. Wow all ready? I remembered when my dad turned 50 and I was sad because that means he was getting older. I do not like that.

When I was younger my dad and I didn’t have the greatest relationship. My dad was a classic workaholic. He always chose work over family time. Also he traveled a lot for his job. That meant missing birthday’s and anything extra that I was in.

I am not a sports person but to please my dad I signed up for all kinds of sports when I was young, softball, basketball, tennis and soccer. I wasn’t good at any of those. I also played piano and was in ballet. My dad missed a lot of my games, recitals and shows because of work. And I became bitter about it.

Also that meant missing birthdays. My dad couldn’t ever remember my birthday even though it’s the easiest birthday to remember. I was born on Saint Patrick’s Day that is not hard to forget. When I was younger I thought my dad got me the coolest gifts not knowing that my mom would buy the present and slap a tag on saying it was from dad. The coolest gift I got was a lava lamp and I thought it was from him. Till one day my and I had to go get a bulb for it and she said I picked out a good color. It was red. I was like you picked it out? I thought it was from dad? I remember feeling disappointed. Every present after that that said it was from dad I knew it was from mom.

Now that I am older and so is he. Are relationship is a lot better. We have a lot in common and talk about those subjects a lot. It’s fun to hear the stories of when he was growing up and technology is always a funny subject to talk about. And he never forgets my birthday now even though he still can’t remember how old I am. I think that is funny. I love talking with him or just hanging out.

I wish my dad was not getting older but I am glad he is still here. Jeff and I got him this Packer hat for his birthday.

Mobster Movies

coollogo_com-326012673

My three favorite in order

I love learning about mobster from the 1920’s and beyond. Something about mobsters intrigues me. I love old school mobster though. When men wore suites and hats, women wore dresses. I have watched plenty of mobster movies but I have three favorites that I probably have seen hundred times. In order they are:

Mobsters (1991)

The first time I saw this movie was in a history class in college. I was blown away how much I liked it. Starts out with the coolest mobsters in my own opinion, it’s about the four mobsters Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Busy Segal and Frank Costello. This movie is how they got their names like how Lucky became “lucky”. How these friends raised to became the baddest mobsters and starting Murder Inc.

Casino (1995)

I never saw this movie till I met Jeff. It’s one of his favorite movies and now it’s in my number two slot for the greatest mob movies. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone do an amazing job! And there plenty of actors you recognize from other mob movies. It’s about a casino in Las Vegas back in the early 70’s before what Las Vegas is today but it’s so much more than that. It has everything I want in a mob movie.

The Godfather (1972)

This movie is a classic in my opinion. I have read the book and it’s just as good as the movie. Of course the book has more details in it. This is my favorite out of the trilogy. I can never get through the third movie but the first is amazing! There are so many lines that people still quote today from this movie. My favorite is: “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.” This movie is worth the three hours to watch it.

The reasoning for the order is that the first two movies I can just watch. If I saw them on TV no matter where they are in the movie I could sit there and watch them. However with the Godfather I have to be in the mood to watch.

Video Games

coollogo_com-36771578

I love video games!

I have been playing video games since I was a kid. I remember getting Nintendo for Christmas one year and ever since then I have been hooked. If mom would let me, I would sit there for hours playing. I even liked to play more than my brothers.

The first game we had was Super Mario Bros. And it was addicting trying to find the princess, fighting Bowser. But my favorite Super Mario Bros will always be Super Mario Bros 3 because Mario could fly.

Then came Balloon Fight this game was also just as addicting! If I could I liked playing with my younger brother with this one. It’s definitely more fun to play two players for this game.

I don’t know if it’s weird or not but I remember a lot of the games we had. Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Double Dragon, Mega Man, Paperboy, Rampage, Teenage Mutant Turtles

Skate or Die this game gave me blisters on my hands trying to get that guy to skate. I remember this game was my older’s brother favorite game. Let’s just say fights would break out who was going to play next. Good times!

Dunk Hunt the game with the big orange gun!

Excitebike I thought this game was unique for its time because you could create your own tracks. So many hours creating and playing.

Power Pad and World Class Track Meet this game combo was fun because we all cheated at this game. (You know you did!) We would get on the floor and use our hands pounding the pad. By doing this would make so much noise maybe that’s why our Nintendo was in the basement. (Just maybe!)

Of course owning a Nintendo lead to another system, so my younger brother and I saved money together, sold all our Nintendo games and system and bought a (drum roll please) Playstation. And that’s why I will always play Playstation and not Xbox. It’s all about the memories made with Playstation. The first game we got was Mortal Kombat. So gory, so fun!

Video Games for me is a great escape. I like using my brain to figure our puzzles or not using my brain and kill things (like zombies).

It’s weird for me because my husband doesn’t play video games but he is pretty good playing the two players game with me. (If I can ever find any.)

There is only one thing I don’t do when playing games. I don’t play online. Have I tried it? Yes and every time I play online I get the kids who are mean. Seriously I really don’t want to play with these people (kids). Sure I get mad when I am horrible at playing missions but I really don’t want a kid telling me how horrible I am and calling me names. I know online play is a big part of playing games these days but I just don’t care. I rather play single player.

Since Nintendo, I have had N64 which I loved the games (can we say GoldenEye 007!). N64 to the Cube to Wii which now I don’t own an Nintendo. But it spawned Playstation, PS2 to PS3. Now I only own a PS3. Can’t wait to own a PS4 but that will be a someday (maybe a couple of years) away system.

I will never stop playing Video Games. It’s one of my favorite hobbies that I have had for a long time.

Yes I am still mad about it!

coollogo_com-311983734

I have no idea where people manners have gone maybe out the window. But I am still mad at my older brother. Last year he and his family weren’t coming to Christmas because last year they went to Texas to celebrate Christmas with his wife’s family. Well to me that means no present for their child from us.

My mom didn’t think so. I gave in and got him some medium size trucks. Actually got a good deal buy one get one for free at Walgreens. Otherwise we would have just got him one. We did see them on Thanksgiving so we gave them his presents there. She did say thanks but that is not what I am mad about.

I am mad because my parents had Christmas with them and I had to hear from my mom that he liked them, he is one. I mad at that! Why didn’t they let us know he liked them? I don’t care if he hated them just pretend he liked them. From what I gather from my mom he loved them. But one of them could of texted, FB messenger me or even called me. But I got nothing!

We went out of our way to get their child, a child I may see once or twice a year a present. We didn’t have too. We didn’t have go and wrap them either. We don’t do the extra Christmas with them. So why in the hell do we have to get him a present when we don’t even see him that often? Or even on Christmas we didn’t see him?

The answer is we didn’t. But we did anyways. Never again! If we don’t see him then no present. If I had a child and they did that for my child. I would have let them know. It’s called MANNERS! So yes I am still mad about it. Next time I see him I am going to let him know too.

Jeff’s sister’s kid is not like that. We hardly ever see her but she calls lets us know that she love the money we sent her, she is nine. Even when she was really little, his sister would call us to thank us. My older sister and brother aren’t like that. I don’t know what happened because I am like that and so is my little brother.

Saying, calling, texting whatever just to say thanks means a lot more than people think about. Would have been nice to for them to say thank you for the gift and that he loved them. I don’t think that is hard to say.

Mind Castle

coollogo_com-272541437

I re-watch BBC’s Sherlock Holmes last episode of the year 2014 the bad guy and Sherlock explore their Mind Palace. I always called my Mind Palace my imagination but I decided this is a cool idea. So now I am going to call my imagination the Mind Castle instead of Mind Palace because I can imagine a castle instead of a palace for some reason.

My Mind Castle is a like a library of useless and useful things. I like to walk in its many isles and pick the next subject to leisurely ponder over. There are many places to sit and wonder away, sometimes a beautiful island where it is warm or sit in outer space floating away while music is playing. If I go far enough in the library there is a section of just doors of files already created. Choose any door and experience a whole new chapter of an existing file waiting for its main character to arrive, which is me.

I have done many things in these files; I am a villain, a hero, rock star, world traveler, lived in many neat houses or castles, time traveler, kicked ass in a zombie apocalypse, a queen, rode dragons, have magical powers, superhero, solved crimes, created cures, flew without an airplane, met celebrities, became a vampire and many, many more roles. Seriously, I go on forever!

My Mind Castle can also be useful. Like going over to the serious section of the castle and sit in a big comfy chair in front of the fire place, this place is where all my worries are. This place I can cry and not have to use a tissue. I worry about a lot things because I am human. I worry about very minor things to large things. Some worries never go away like money, health, etc. While some are minor and go away. Some can be huge and it feels like a big piece of garbage that was clean out and no longer needs to be added to.

In another part of castle is place where problem arise. This place looks like some kind of secret government faculty where everyone has white lab coats on. The most brilliant people are there and yes some are fictional. Anyways there is a huge white board in a very large room where all the people are solving problems, my problems. This place gives me the freedom to ponder over the problems and really think about them. Of course a lot of people have told me, I think about some stuff too much but in my defense I like to see all the options even when there is only one.

Also my favorite part of the castle is the creative part, this where all my really cool poems come from. My creativity is important to me and I to get hang out with all my favorite fictional characters and go on adventures with them. Or maybe write poems or articles about them. I also like doing creative things like color, cross-stitch, crochet and many, many other creative things.

My Mind Castle is a wonderful tool to use when I need to escape from life for a while or need to really think about things. So, if you see me staring into the abyss, I am actually in my Mind Castle having fun or working on today’s problems.

Slang & Idioms

coollogo_com-245192899Since I have been listening and writing down all the slang and idioms I use or others use, I didn’t realize how many there actually were.  I am actually surprise away how much I use them just to communicate.

Slang

4. Posse– a large group of friends

I am going to the mall with my posse.

My posse and I are going to stay home and play video games.

5. Y’all-You all. Mostly people in southern states will say this.

Y’all want to go to dinner?

Now y’all come back now.

6. Sick-crazy, cool and insane.

That concert was sick!

That is a sick t-shirt.

Idioms

4.Tell me about it-meaning I already know or I agree.

Have to be careful with this one. You really have to pay attention on how the person is using it and their body language. In this case it’s ironic. I don’t really want you to tell me about it. I made a recording so you can hear the difference. When I say it ironically I might roll my eyes or move my head to the side.

Person One: You wouldn’t believe what happened to me today.

Person Two: Tell me about it.

Person One:I really hate our slow computers at work.

Person Two: Tell me about it.

5.What’s up-meaning how’s it going? This one can come in a variety of ways of spelling and saying, here are some examples: Waz up? Sup? What up? What’s up?

This idiom is used when meeting with friends or people that you know well, when meeting with such people there is no hi or hello used just the phrase.

Meeting your sister: What’s up?

Sister: Nothing really.

Meeting a friend: Sup?

Friend: Oh not much.

6. Hold your horses-meaning wait or calm down.

When someone is rushing you to do something or someone is throwing a fit you can use this phrase.

Person one: Let’s go right now!

Person two: Hold your horses!

Person one: But I want this!

Person two: Hold your horses!

Happy New Year

coollogo_com-3737668

Hope it was fun!

New Year Eve is fun! No matter what you do. We like to watch the New Year Eve celebration on the TV.

The New Year Eve celebration on the TV is fun because they have a lot of musical guests and celebrities come out as well. I like that is all different artist as well everything from pop, country, and rap. The New Year Eve celebration takes place in New York. I like to see all the people that go to that. So many! It’s like waves of people. Also when they drop the ball in New York we still have an hour but they show it again when it’s our turn to drop the ball.

When I was kid we celebrated it the same way. My parents would get a pizza and non-alcoholic drinks. Like sparkling grape juice and we couldn’t drink it till midnight, we all would stay up and watch the TV. When the ball dropped we would all toast and get hugs and kisses. It was fun!

We do the same thing but we have alcohol. Jeff and I get a pizza and watch the TV. When the ball drops we give each other a kiss and a hug.

Everyone should celebrate the New Year because you made it another year. That is something to celebrate.
