Happy Birthday

Today is my birthday! I am 37 years old. Today is going to be a very low key birthday. I can’t go anywhere to celebrate it because of Covid-19. Everything is closing and that makes me worry about what’s to come. They say don’t worry but it’s hard not too.

I am going to celebrate it at home. I asked Jeff if he would make chili and so that’s what we will have. I also get to pick what movie we watch. I haven’t decided what yet.

Happy birthday to me!

Happy New Year

I can’t believe it’s going to be 2020! WHOOOO! Happy New Year!

Let’s do a rewind reflection of 2019.

In March Jeff and I started the process of adoption. It had mostly good things but some bad things. The bad things were my mom not really wanting me to go and adopt. But that was just too bad. This is the route I want to do. Hopefully 2020 we will have a child.

Also wow it’s a process for sure! But the end result it will be awesome! Finally my mom came around the idea. Now everyone is happy to have an adopted child in the family. On top of that I didn’t really care if she liked it or not. It’s our decision and that’s final. Oh I can’t wait to see our new family member.

Speaking of family members, Tex. Who we spent a lot of money and time on him. There for sure where ups and downs having a puppy. However I can’t imagine not having Tex around. He is for sure a mama’s boy. Lol!

He has a personality like I have never seen. He loves balls, blankets and bones. Lol! He shows and carries around his blankets everyday. The ball is his favorite toy. He LOVES giving kisses even when you don’t want kisses. He is a truly a silly dog. I can’t believe next year he will already be 2.

I ripped up almost all the carpet in our house because it was stinky! Next year it will be replaced.

Came to the conclusion that nobody really appreciate handmade gifts like they use too. Except for some select people. Jeff and I agree no more handmade gifts for family since they don’t appreciate the time and effort to make them.

New Year resolutions: Continue losing weight. Jeff and I have been doing awesome. I lost 24 pounds and Jeff lost 80! We want to look like different people next year end. We are on our way.

I am going to work on myself. I am always a working process. I am going to try not procrastinate so much. It’s a really bad habit to have and this year was the worst. So in 2020 I am going to be the person who says “I’ll do it tomorrow.” To “I will do it right now or today.”

I think 2020 will be the year of growing more on the inside out. Becoming more of a mature adult. ( I said that?!) Lol! Going to try to make it a great year.

Happy Halloween

Today I have three movie reviews. Let’s get to it!

Let’s start with a good one first:

Zombieland Double Tap 2019 In Theaters Rating 4

Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the America’s heartland. In this adventure they go up against evolved zombies and find other survivors. Also while surviving their own family that they see in each other.

If you liked the first one you will like this one. It’s just as silly and fun as the first one. I didn’t know how they could make a sequel but here it is. Watch all the way to the end. There is bonus scenes.

If you are into zombies and horror comedy this is something to see this year, 2019.

On to the okay:

Eli 2019 Netflix Rating 3

A couple who has a son who has an auto-immune disease seeks treatment for him in a creepy old mansion.

Why why WHY?! Cracking bones and a girl all twisted in this movie. I hate that! It creeps me out! Yeah so there is one of those. Ghosts in the mansion, I guess.

At first there is jump scares and they scared me. Then they totally over do it in this movie. In the middle of the movie I could see them coming and made me laugh. Scary yes in the beginning, middle laughable and the end was like this “ARE YOU SERIOUS?!”

I hate the end of this movie and the whole premise of this movie. The twist in my opinion sucks.

Now the terrible:

Slaughterhouse Rulez 2018 Redbox Rating 2

A British boarding school is also fracking in the woods. Unleashes terror on the school.

Simon Pegg doesn’t mean always greatest movie. Too bad because this movie is beautiful looking. The acting is also great. The concept meh. I knew it was going to be a monster movie even though it doesn’t say. As it is classified as action/horror. But really it isn’t scary not even a little bit.

Hocus Pocus 1993 DVD or Streaming Rating 2

A family moves to Salem from California and the young boy struggles to fit in. He meets a pretty girl and they go to a museum and he lights a candle unleashing three witches on Halloween.

This is a typical 90’s movie and not practically a great movie. But April loves to watch this every Halloween and it’s our tradition to do so.

Like I said it’s so 90’s and even uses 90’s slang. Tubular dude!

If anyone wants to see a 90’s kid’s movie for Halloween, I am not sure this is it. There has to be better movies out there. But it does have three popular actresses from the 90’s in it. So that is something. Maybe? It’s silly and laughable in this day in age but not a super terrible movie.

The Terror Season 2 AMC Rating 5

Wow! Season 2 was even better than season 1 if that is possible.

Season 2 is about World War 2 when America is against Japan. This story follows a family with a dark secret. A “demon” follows them from Japan to America. The story mostly surrounds their son Chester and how the “demon” affects him. The story takes place mostly in a camp where America puts Japanese people during the war. Even goes a bit into when America drops the 2 nuclear bombs on Hiroshima.

All the acting is great! The chemistry between all the characters and the scenery are all so great as well.

This is a must see. It’s not so much scary however there are some jump scares. More of a creepy atmosphere and understanding of what’s going on.

House of the Witch Netflix Rating 2

A group of young adults on Halloween go to house to prank each other. Once they enter they find they can’t leave.

I had to watch at least one B movie and this is it!

There is creepy witch who can walk the spider walk. Creepy sounds, check. Young adults who make dumb decisions, check. Jump scares, check.

This movie isn’t that great but the acting is pretty good. The visual effects are okay. The story generic.

Good movie to have on the background while doing other things.

Flu 2013 Korean Amazon Prime Rating 3

An airborne virus flies through Korea. Zombies! Well sort of.

There are no zombies walking around or hurting people. The virus is airborne making people sick so the government takes drastic measures to contain it. This movie has great character development in it. Going through the city is great. The story is good.

It’s more of a drama then a zombie flick. That’s why I give it a solid 3. Don’t expect more than it is. However it’s in Korean. Watch in Korean with subtitles.

In the Tall Grass 2019 Netflix Rating 3

A pregnant woman and her brother stop on the side of a road in front of a field of tall grass. They hear a young boy calling for help and they go in to help. Then they get stuck in the maze of the tall grass. Also the grass isn’t all it seems.

This is a mix bag movie. It has good acting and good atmosphere but the story for me was…meh.

You won’t be scared but if you want to check out another Stephen King story. This may be something to watch.

Castle Rock Season 1 Hulu Rating 4

What happens when J.J. Abrams and Stephen King get together? They create Castle Rock.

This is a collection of stories by Stephen King. The First episode I wasn’t too sure about it. The story revolves around 2 main protagonist who have the same name. There is something in the woods, it’s a sound only certain people can hear. The town is Shawshank and a lot of bad things have happened there.

I really liked this. Took me 3 days to watch it and worth it. Just in time too because season 2 is coming out. I am not sure how they are going to go beyond what has happened but excited to see how they do it. Recommended!

Play or Die Netflix or Amazon Prime Rating 1

A couple plays a game called Paranoia where they go to an insane asylum and tries to escape rooms for fun….

Plot holes all over the place! Acting is meh and gore is unnecessary. I figured out the killer out easily. The only thing about this movie is the scenes they filmed are pretty good. Too bad this movie is garbage.

First of all it they didn’t make the game long enough. The couple had to find their way to the insane asylum. They could have expanded on that. For example make it creepier getting to the asylum. Wasted opportunity.

The main character is insane and the killer. Like anyone could figure that out. There is this part towards the end that his girlfriend betrays him to get ahead of the game. But I figure out he was the killer. That’s important because he catches up to her in the forest dying. Instead of “Get away from me!” She acts like he needs him to forgive her for betraying him. That doesn’t make any sense, plot hole.

Also in the one of the beginning scenes the girlfriend is strapped to a bed and knives are up above. Lucas has to figure out a code before the knives impales his girlfriend. Well she has to lift her head to see the code written on the knives which we don’t get to see and she scrapes her cheek. When the code is in the door panel the knives go back up. I almost stop watching it from there. First of all there was no blood on her face. How can that be?! There would be lots of blood. It was her face that got a big cut on it. Then throughout the whole movie they forgot she did that because they didn’t show the cut or even dried blood there till like almost end of movie. Terrible!

They show this flashback of the main character Lucas mom chaining him in the basement all his life. He is handcuffed all his life. When he was a young adult he decides he is escaping so he breaks his thumb but…how does he get the other cuff off? They show him with both cuffs off. How is that done? He doesn’t have the key or know where it is. Then he kills his mom and puts her in the basement. They show a flashback that he was in the insane asylum. So here is a major plot hole. He kills his girlfriend and they show her and his mom in the basement. But! But his mom looked like she was kill like a short time ago. She would be all decomposed however he was in the insane asylum from killing his mom. So she wouldn’t have been in the basement. Makes no sense!

No one should see this movie. It’s terrible and has a lot of plot holes in it.
