I’m Sick

Jeff got sick on Wednesday and I really was hoping I wouldn’t get sick. But I got sick….

Since I have been sick, I have been watching some movies that I have been in my queue. I watched the 5th Wave.  I saw this was a book turned into a movie.  I was thinking maybe I should read the book but after watching the movie which I know they always are not the same. I am going to pass. The movie was slow! First of all I thought it was going to be a zombie movie. I didn’t read what it was about. Spoiler it’s about alien’s. Which I also like to watch.

However it was boring! The concept was okay. Definitely if you have never seen an alien movie with soldiers you might be surprised by the twist. However I figured it out before that because I have seen alien/military movies before. Nothing really clever and it bothered me at the end. Have no idea what happens to one of the characters unless there is going to be a sequel. I would watch the sequel just to do know what happens to that one character. Would be I don’t know what to watch so I will watch this movie.

Daylight’s End, horrible. This is a zombie movie and the description sounded good.  The zombies looked not too bad. It did have Johnny Strong. Which I have seen him in many things and he is a good actor. Also not bad looking either. However it was like let’s hire Johnny Strong and that is all we have money for. Now let’s get some actors and actress that suck. The lines these other actors would say would be awful! And the main actress wasn’t any better. Horrible acting. It even had a mutated zombie which they could have spent a little more time making it look scarier. This movie was a disappointment.

The movie that I was surprised about was Victor Frankenstein. Everyone knows the story of Frankenstein and thought this will be an okay movie. But it was great! The acting was great it had Daniel Radcliffe as Igor even though he will always be Harry Potter to me. I have seen him in other things. Great actor. James McAvoy as Victor and he’s the actor from the X-Men. Also great actor. And Andrew Scott the guy from Sherlock! So many good actors! The movie was beautiful too! One of the best movies I watched while being sick.

Kong Skull Island. Jeff and I watched this one together even though he already saw it. It was good! I have to say the original King Kong was great for it’s time. This Kong is great for this time. I have seen all King Kong movies and there is some real shit ones out there. Kong Skull Island is beautiful too and you feel for Kong which it should be.

I am sure I will watch more horrible movies. It’s strange to find good movies these days. I just hope I feel better soon.

Life

I had so much fun on Tuesday. April came over and we went to see Beauty and the Beast. Jeff went too but saw Kong Skull Island. I couldn’t believe it the theater was packed and this is Tuesday in the morning. That was crazy to me. Even though our theater was mostly children, we didn’t hear any crying or whining. Which is good but also unbelievable!

The movie was awesome! Except for two things: One I thought the beast had funny lips. Two there is a hole in the story however this hole is also in the original animated Disney movie as well. Wish they would have fixed it. So beast has to save Belle from the wolves and he gets hurt however when the beast lets Belle go, she still has to go through the forest, no wolves chase her. So…where did they go? Sort of funny if you think about it. Anyway great movie! Loved all the singing and dancing, very entertaining.

Jeff said his movie was a great action movie. Now I do have to see that movie.

We actually saw three movies that day. We all saw Sing! With all the hype that movie had, I wasn’t impressed with it. Jeff liked it. We all liked the music but I don’t know I was expecting something more. Then April and I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This movie was awful! It had no plot to almost an hour into it. I was also expecting more from this movie. No matter what J.K. Rowling produces nothing can measure up to Harry Potter.

However the main character actor Eddie Redmayne he could be the next Doctor Who. Since he needs to regenerate make him the Doctor. He would be perfect!

April coming over was to celebrate many things. Christmas, birthdays and her being cancer free!

We made her a blue cake.

I finally finished it! My dream map which I didn’t know that what a thing. Ha! Helen told me it is popular in Russia so we both made one. Here is mine:

Since we do not have a color printer. I printed and colored them, that took awhile to do.

Helen’s sent me an awesome birthday presents!

In the bag are awesome towels and I got a wooden comb. So cool!

April got me two awesome games! I can’t wait to play them.

Time to geek out about sports! Me?! That isn’t me. Ha! Ooo! I saw on my Facebook feed and had to get it!

I decided he is my favorite bull rider. I wish there was more of his story in it but still very good!

Happy Halloween!

coollogo_com-201063501

Today is Halloween!

Tonight Jeff and I will watch a scary movie. I decided this year that I will pick the scary movie for Halloween since Jeff sucks at it and he doesn’t really watch them. Funny! This year it’s Babadook. It was hard trying to find one since I watch a lot of scary movies to find one that I haven’t seen. We usually eat pizza but tonight we are going chicken.

Since it’s Halloween I thought I would tell real ghost stories.

First I would like to say yes I have seen ghost. The first time I saw a ghost is when I was baby. Of course I don’t remember it but my mom likes to tell that story. We were in her bedroom maybe she was changing me but I was old enough to talk. I asked mom who was that lady over there. My mom said she looked in the corner then asked me “What woman?” Scared the shit out of her.

Yes even at a young age I could feel them. Not all the time but sometimes. The house I grew up in not that one with the woman but a different one. I swear there was a ghost that lived in one of the rooms. It was my older brother’s room then my mom’s craft room. I did think it was a man who lived there a very long time ago. I could feel his present there and even my mom said she thought it was a guy ghost too. He was friendly because I wasn’t scared of him.

When I was in the fifth grade I had to have back surgery. While I was recovering and my mom said it was the drugs they put me on but I don’t believe her. I saw ghosts and a whole lot of them. They had different kinds of clothes on from different period of times standing around my bed. They were all smiling at me and touching me in a enduring way. I felt like they were all my past relatives wishing me well.

When Jeff and I moved to this small town we rented a house. The basement scared me always! There was a room down there where the washer and dryer used to be. Another thing creepy about that room was all these drawers in the wall it looked strange. I tried my hardest to keep away from that room and it was below our bedroom. Now Jeff at the time didn’t believe in ghost. However I was watching TV and Jeff was sleeping the vent in the floor pop out of the floor and landed away from the hole. No there is no possible way someone can pop the vent in fact sometimes those are hard to get out of the carpet. Scared the shit out of him! Now he believes in ghost. I was happy when we moved.

Here is the scariest! We moved to a little house and I always felt something there but it didn’t scare me at first. The strange part I always felt in our bedroom but just figured it was a friendly like the guy in my childhood home. One night I went to bed and I figured that Koko would let me know if something was wrong. Thinking they can see them more then we at this time we only had Koko too. I went to bed and was sleeping when I saw it! I open my eyes and this shadowy figure came towards me. The figure reached out for me and loomed over me that is when I screamed! It scared the shit out of me! That is when I started to cry and Jeff practically jumped out of bed! Jeff said good thing he didn’t have the gun out he would have shot up the wall. He didn’t see it but I told him I want out of this house! Living in that house with that thing was awful the feeling of dread in our bedroom was awful. When we did move it was a sigh of relief.

To date that was the scariest ghost I have encountered. I would be okay if I never see a scary ghost again. The ones that don’t bother me or are friendly that is fine.

Time to complete my marathon of scary movies.

Boo! 2014. Amazon Prime. This movie is cheesy yet can be scary. I like the story line of this one. Not super scary but enough and there are some jump scares. Four young people go to a mental asylum that is abandoned on Halloween. What could go wrong? I love in the beginning one of the women states that they are the those people who are the dumb ones that are going to find out. True. This deserves a four.

The Last House on Cemetery Lane. 2015. Netflix. Skip this one. Boring maybe a couple of jump scares. The plot line is overdone and the end is no surprise. A writer goes to a house on holiday to get away from it all to write. He has nightmares that are supposedly scary. They are not. One for this one.

The Rohl Farms Haunting. 2015. Amazon Prime. I am not that much into real footage movies because of motion sickness. However I thought I would give this a try. It’s not really all that scary and can be boring in parts. I thought it was okay but I hate how they didn’t explain anything. Like the mask people why are they there? Why did they want these two guys? More questions then scary. However it wasn’t super horrible so I give it a three.

Battle of the Undead. 2013. Amazon Prime. Not a bad zombie movie and not the greatest. Soldiers go to Lebanon to find a man to bring back alive. When they get there, there are zombies. This movie is not in English but it’s dubbed over. The voice actors are not that bad either. Who will back it back? The ending was not bad but like I said not the greatest. The zombies were not bad looking either. This deserves a three.

The Guard Post. Korean. 2008. Amazon Prime. This movie is in Korean so subtitles. However it was great! It’s a long movie but worth a watch. Soldiers at a post are dying but why? They send another team to go in to find the first one and the first scene we see is a crazy solider with an axe and soldiers parts everywhere! A bloody mess! A mystery virus are causing soldiers to kill each other then not remember doing it. Where did this virus come from and why is this happening? They are not zombies as we know zombies but technically zombies in a different mental way. I loved this movie. This movie is a five.

Bunker of the Dead. 2016. Amazon Prime. Finally a zombie movie to watch! Unfortunately this movie is in first person. I have a feeling most movies are going to go this way. Bad for people like me who get motion sickness. I had to watch this movie in two nights however it isn’t bad to keep up. This is about two guys, one guy is wearing a suit and cameras as in first person. The second guy who I have to say has a pleasant voice is the navigator. The first guy goes to a bunker that hasn’t been touched since World War II and they are trying to find gold. But what they find are Nazis zombies which are very well done. They also find a strange tank of the future maybe? Also an alien. The guy who is in the bunker is German as well and somehow can talk to the zombies and alien because he is German. Best zombie movie I have come across in a while. This is a five!

That concludes it. Happy Halloween!

Scary Movies

coollogo_com-39114930Before scary movies April came over on Tuesday and stayed till Wednesday. I asked her if she wanted to take an aromatherapy class with me months ago. That is why she came over and to hang out. The lady who gave the class was nice but pushy like a saleswoman. I knew she would try to sell us stuff. That is why you don’t bring extra money with you. No temptation to buy things I wouldn’t use. Sometimes I admit I get caught up in the moment and buy things so I know myself not to bring extra. The class was informative and I learned a lot.

We made a spray and a body scrub.

img_20161019_134910054_hdr

I made a lavender, peppermint and sandalwood spray. The body scrub is peppermint, cinnamon leaf and lavender. Both smell wonderful. I was going to give my mom the body scrub for Christmas. Good thing April asked what was in the massage oil that is how the scrub is made it has sunflower oil in it. Dammit! My dad is super allergic to anything sunflower. So going to give this to Elena for Christmas. In fact I am going to make body scrubs for all the females this Christmas. Easy to make and not too expensive. But instead of massage oil I am going to try and get aloe gel.

Recipe for body scrub

Bath salt

Essential Oil of your liking. I did two drops peppermint, two drops cinnamon leaf and two drops of lavender. Add more if you want stronger. My mom is sensitive to smells so mine is bit weak.

Add massage oil or aloe gel.

Shake it up!

Body scrub made.

Funny story. The teacher was saying how expenisve her oils were. We had to pay eight dollars each for the supplies. Not too bad. But she was saying this oil cost a hundred and this one two hundred etc. April made her spray super strong. I couldn’t help but laugh because the teacher didn’t want her to dump the spray out because oil is super expensive. But still it was so funny! It’s basically water and oils that is all the spray is.

Now time for more scary movies!

Ghostbusters 2016. Not scary however I was skeptical of the remake of this. It was hilarious! Chris Hemsworth so funny. I literally laughed so much during this film. I love all the ghost and it had Slimer! Also had most of the original cast somewhere in the film. Good job! I give it a five.

Haunt 2013.  Netflix. The acting was okay. The relationship between the teen girl and teen boy is rushed. However overlook that it had scares. Yes this jumped scared me. They did a good job on make up as well. Just for being scared at some moments I give this movie a three.

Re-Kill 2015. Netflix. Zombies! I have to say this is a different take on the typical zombie movie. I liked it. It was more like you were watching a TV show in a movie during the safe time after a zombie apocalypse. But is it safe? Not really. I give this movies a four.

We worked more on our wall and finished the wood part.

We put the cabinet in and painted where the TV is going to go. It looks so cool!

Remember that pumpkin? I carved it.

This pumpkin was the hardest to carve! But the pay off I am drying out it’s seeds right now and soon I will get to eat pumpkin seeds. Yum!

coollogo_com-39114930It’s time to continue October movies.

Housebound 2014-Netflix. Who rates these movies? If you want to be bored watch this movie. There wasn’t even one time were I was scared. The plot is boring and overdone. The main character she acted like Kristen Stewart in Twilight. I give this movie a one.

The Dead Room 2016. This was a good movie. Two scientist and a psychic. The scientists trying to get proof of ghost. The psychic to detect it if any. Old house but not a big house. Thought that was interesting. Usually haunted houses are two stories. The acting was good and the other things in the house made it scary. There is one scene of possession but not too bad and I could handle it. I give it a four.

The Hoarder 2015. Yes this was really scary in the beginning. I didn’t know it was creature feature. So I was disappointed in that regard. However storage unit building and being trapped. Something about that is scary in itself and the acting was good. I give this a four.

Really scary moment. I was watching The Dead Room and it got to the scary part and since at this time we had a whole in our wall to the garage the air compressor turn on by itself. Scared the shit out of me! Now it’s funny but I was like what is that?! Scared Koko too. Jeff said it’s because it was low on air it just turns on. Also it took some time to fine how to turn it off. Still though scary!

Scary Movies

coollogo_com-39114930I like scary movies.

It’s that time of year to watch scary movies. Even though I watch scary movies throughout the year. I watch more of them in the month of October.

When I was younger I liked to watch the Exorcist. Now I can’t handle movies with possessions. They really scare the shit out of me. Too many questions arise about if that could really be possible. So I avoid all movies and shows with that in it if I can. Sometimes they sneak it in and I really hate that.

I think the reason I like scary movies is I rarely get nightmares from them. I can handle it. However there are two movies that really gave me nightmares and I will never ever see them again. I wouldn’t even see their sequels.

The Ring 2002. This movie scared me so much! At the time I did have a TV in my room. I had to cover it so she wouldn’t come out of it. I sacred for months!

Oculus 2013. The mirrors! I couldn’t look at mirrors at night. I normally can’t anyways but this brought the real fear of that to life.

These are the only two movies in a list of scary movies I have seen in my life. Which I think it’s pretty good there is only two.

I will watch the Shinning. I read the book and I have to say reading the book makes the movie make more sense. There are some little details that are in the movie without the book that just make no sense. However the remake for TV movie of the Shinning is more like the book. I understand they didn’t have the technology to make it like the book for the first one and also Jack Nicholson is awesome in this movie.

Definitely be watching some zombies movies. You know I love zombies movies. I will definitely be watching the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Did you know it’s staged in Wisconsin even though not filmed here. I think that is cool.

Anyway I will write about the horror movies I watch this month. Oh let the bad movies take over. You know there are going to be some horrible ones and there are so many. I hope I can find some good ones in the mix. I am going to do a rating system. One being terrible and five being that was a great movie.

I am going to start with Pontypool 2008. I saw this on Netflix. Not really scary but I did like the drama it had in it and makes you think.  I do like movies where they don’t have to go all over the place. I liked that this just took place at a radio station. I love how it plants an imagery in your head of what is happening outside even though the viewer doesn’t see it. The ending I wasn’t surprised as how I sort had a hunch that is how it was going to end. This deserves a four.

JeruZalem 2106. Watched it on Netflix. Warning if you get motion sickness do not watch this. However if you are like me and get motion sickness watch it anyways. Funny. This took me three days to watch because I do get motion sickness. Basically two friends who are women go to Jerusalem for vacation and demons roam the place. Also the main woman is wearing Google Glass and you see everything through her eyes. That is where the motion sickness comes in. Now who will survive? I was actually surprised who did survive. Anyway the American guy was sort of annoying in my opinion and the acting was just okay. The demons are super CGI and the bigger demons like come on! Horrible. Who rated this four out of five stars on Netflix? It wasn’t really bad but bad enough. I give it a two.

Off the path movies

Sadly Flamingtext.com isn’t working. So no fancy title for you. Oh well….

There are many categories of movies I go to when I can’t decide what to watch. I know I should catch up with my shows but sometimes I just want to watch something else. I was going to say spefic genres then found out I like too many. Silly! The most that I watch though is zombies movies. I love zombies! The second on is sharks!

So yes I have seen some really awful zombies movies. A close second is shark movies.

However sometimes I have the best off the path movies. I call them that because I think they are going to dumb but turn out to great! Or I love them so much I have to add them to my collection to see again.

I made up rules. I know I am silly. The movie has to grab me at least twenty minutes in. If it doesn’t it goes. Another rule is the acting. I ask: Can I live with this acting for however long the movie is? Sometimes the plot or story is great but the acting can be so horrible. One more: How cheap is this movie? Now this can be like the CGI is so horribly done and used in scenes where I am like come on! Really?! The last question however can be over look to a point till is gets ridiculous. With zombie and shark movies I ask myself: Are the zombies good enough to watch? Sometimes I think I could do a better job on what they make zombies for those zombie movies. Shark movies the same some are so CGI. They look horrible.

One more thing is I noticed that if the movie has sequels I usually like the second or the third. Not always but it seems to be more often.

I just recently watched this again. Infini from 2015. I love this movie! It’s sci-fi thought I would give it a chance. I saw it on Netflix. It’s space and aliens. I love the concept and the acting isn’t horrible not great but not horrible. The story is like wow! So love this movie. I have seen it now three times. The main character is a good actor and he is believable.

Bait is a shark movie from 2012. Basically shark in a grocery store. Yes doesn’t this sound dumb and unbelievable? But if you watched Sharknado this movie is way better then that! Premise Australian grocery store gets hits with tsunami and there is underground parking lot. A great white gets in and people have to survive. This is one of the better shark movies and I have seen it a couple of times now. Great movie!

Dead Snow you know I have to say this movie. If you like Evil Dead this movie is for you. I laughed! It starts out as a campy horror movie turns out to be funny! I really liked the head zombie monster. I liked Dead Snow however Dead Snow 2 I really liked. I loved how silly it was! I saw online that a lot of people didn’t like the big fighting scene in Dead Snow 2. Of course I loved it! I loved the gore and such. Some parts are strange that I didn’t like but those can be overlooked for the whole movie.

Let’s talk Evil Dead. I love these movies they are silly! I really like the last one Army of Darkness. Come on that is silly! Of course the first one is a classic. Who thinks of these things? This is my boomstick! Lol! Chainsaw for a hand that is great! I used to play the Evil dead video game. The first one was great but yeah not talking about video games right now.

Tucker and Dale VS Evil 2010. Yes! This movie is great! The humor in it is so funny! I like how dumb the characters are. Sorry have to say this: This guy came out of the woods and jumped in the wood chipper. LOL! This movie is worth some more watching. I hope they make another one.

Kill Command 2016. I in fact just watched this movie and was surprised. The cover for this movie may look like it would be dumb. I was surprised on the whole concept, acting and the looks of this movie. It’s a sci-fi in the future movie. Basic premise man VS machine. I think I have to watch it again. I really liked movies like this.

Let’s go old school 90’s movie. When I was younger I used to watch the Exorcist. Yes my mom let me watch that as a teen. In fact I have probably seen it over twenty times by now. I also read the book. Now that I am older anything with possessions scares the shit out of me. I can’t handle it anymore. Seen too many movies like the Exorcist and since we live in the world of technology those movies have become scarier. However while cruising the net on what to watch I came across Repossessed 1990. Leslie Nielsen! I love slap stick funnies. Hence Dead Snow or Evil Dead.  With Repossessed Linda Blair gets repossessed hence the name. I love how she could make fun of herself. Not the greatest movie and no I wouldn’t watch again however it had some funny stuff in it.

Distract 9 2009. This movie follows along in documentary form. Those can be strange when it’s a future movie with aliens. Surprised! I liked this movie the ending: mind blown! There isn’t I can’t say is bad with this movie. I just really liked it. The acting, aliens didn’t look so CGI, the feel of the movie is great!

28 Weeks Later 2002. I can’t believe this came out in 2002. It’s such a great movie! I disliked 28 Days Later. The only reason I watched the second one because zombies. Surprised! This is now in my zombie collection. I have seen it over ten times now. Love it! The zombies look great! Premise weeks later after the first movie it follows a family. Mostly brother, sister and father.  I don’t want to give it away but damn Robert Carlyle you play a good bad guy.

Deep Blue Sea 1999. Sharks get smart. Samuel L. Jackson. Hell yeah! The CGI is a little off but still killer sharks. Awesome movie!

The Horde or La Horde 2009. French zombie movie. Basically gangsters VS cops VS zombies. In a apartment complex. Ending is great! Who will survive this? I try to pick who is going to die and survive before the movie gets really into it. Most of the time I am right this time I wasn’t. Sometimes I think it’s going to be one person then sometimes it’s more then one. Not going to say who survives this but yeah it’s good.

Rammbock Berlin Undead 2010. The zombies look good in this movie. Boyfriend tries to find ex-girlfriend city overrun with zombies. Make sure to get it’s subtitles. So good this movies seen it a few times.

Yeah I think that is good for now. More to come….

Silent Hill Movies

coollogo_com-13846515

Mixed feelings.

When I heard that they were going to turn Silent Hill into a movie I had my doubts. We all know what happened to the Resident Evil movies. (If you don’t you are not missing anything.) I actually went and saw the first Silent Hill movie in theater which is rare. I rarely go to the movies so that means I really wanted to see it.

I was surprised because the first movie is great! It followed the story line of Silent Hill well. I like the two worlds. They really made the other world so creepy. It was amazing. Love the monsters. I liked it so much I saw it at least three times when it came out to DVD.

I was excited when they announced the second one. This one I didn’t get a chance to see it in theaters and I am glad I didn’t waste my money. It was horrible! Once again Hollywood screwed up a great franchise. What was the connection to Heather and other actor? It was dumb! The whole movie didn’t make any sense. It’s Resident Evil movies all over again. How disappointing.

If they do come out with a third movie. I will probably watch it maybe it will better. One can only hope.

Mobster Movies

coollogo_com-326012673

My three favorite in order

I love learning about mobster from the 1920’s and beyond. Something about mobsters intrigues me. I love old school mobster though. When men wore suites and hats, women wore dresses. I have watched plenty of mobster movies but I have three favorites that I probably have seen hundred times. In order they are:

Mobsters (1991)

The first time I saw this movie was in a history class in college. I was blown away how much I liked it. Starts out with the coolest mobsters in my own opinion, it’s about the four mobsters Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Busy Segal and Frank Costello. This movie is how they got their names like how Lucky became “lucky”. How these friends raised to became the baddest mobsters and starting Murder Inc.

Casino (1995)

I never saw this movie till I met Jeff. It’s one of his favorite movies and now it’s in my number two slot for the greatest mob movies. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone do an amazing job! And there plenty of actors you recognize from other mob movies. It’s about a casino in Las Vegas back in the early 70’s before what Las Vegas is today but it’s so much more than that. It has everything I want in a mob movie.

The Godfather (1972)

This movie is a classic in my opinion. I have read the book and it’s just as good as the movie. Of course the book has more details in it. This is my favorite out of the trilogy. I can never get through the third movie but the first is amazing! There are so many lines that people still quote today from this movie. My favorite is: “I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse.” This movie is worth the three hours to watch it.

The reasoning for the order is that the first two movies I can just watch. If I saw them on TV no matter where they are in the movie I could sit there and watch them. However with the Godfather I have to be in the mood to watch.
