The House

coollogo_com-20666898First of all Jeff and I saw the Accountant on Friday. It was a good movie. It was more drama then action and I thought Ben Affleck did a good job.  Jeff made a good point he said ‘isn’t it funny when an actor gets older they want to be action stars.’ I thought that was funny because look at Liam Neeson, so true.

This year I wanted to go to a Halloween store. We went to Halloween City and it was cool. But wow the smell! All that latex and plastic made my stomach churn. So we didn’t last to long in the store. I was looking for a new skull for my collection but they mostly had costumes. I was sort of disappointed on the decorations they had.

Jeff got me Silent Hill Downpour. Since it’s almost Halloween I was thinking of playing a scary game, Silent Hill comes to mind. I was playing Silent Hill Homecoming years ago. It got stolen when we got robbed.  I didn’t want to start over. I remember it was hard! So wanted to skip that one and decided Downpour. I have played most of them also this one was on sale on Amazon. It’s crazy most of the Silent Hill games are now expensive!

We worked on the house again. It’s really never ending.

In our living room there was a clay pots boarder. We both hated it. I have never taken down wallpaper before but I have seen it can be hard.

img_20161015_113521158_hdr img_20161015_113526564

While talking with my mom she said they make stuff to take off the wallpaper glue which is why wallpaper is hard to get off. We found this stuff:

img_20161017_110045352 img_20161017_110051821

This stuff is worth the twenty dollars for both. The small thingy makes holes in the wallpaper then spray the stuff. Let it soak then scrape off. It worked! I didn’t think it would.  However it does smell like pee though but can live with that as it worked so well.

I wanted to go brown for our living room since everything in there is brown already except my chair but that is only because it was on sale. It’s blue but brown and blue go together. Anyway we went with Behr paint. It claims it goes on with just one coat. Not! We have to do two coats because of the texture of our walls. In my opinion don’t make a claim you can’t keep. Just like the paint lady at Home Depot she said how can they claim this? They don’t know people’s walls. We laughed because true. Anyway it’s still nice paint.

This is only one coat. Tonight we finish it on this side of the room.

Hi! I am back being my positive self.

April had her surgery for her cancer September 30th.  Everything went great and she won’t have a huge scar either. She was worried about that. Because back in the day when they did thyroid surgery the doctor would leave a scar that would spread across the neck like someone tried to kill you scar. I knew that wouldn’t be medicine has come along way from that. I am happy that she wouldn’t have that and the surgery went well!

She had all of her thyroid out and all the lymph notes on her right side. Not sure yet if she needs radiation they told her a couple of weeks. Also that she can take the radiation in pill form so she can be home when she takes it.

Right now she is at home chilin’ after all that. I am glad she is fine. Now April has to content with her tumor behind her eye. But at least the cancer is gone.

Saturday Jeff and I had pizza with my parents and my aunt Kathy. It’s was good to see her that is my mom’s sister. My mom and dad went to my dad’s brother’s farm with the grand kids to pick pumpkins. Every year my Uncle Paul grows pumpkins just for the kids to have. That is so nice. He gave one to my parents to give to me.  Look it’s huge and it’s green!

While we were in Green Bay we went to Cabelas. Never been there before. Jeff has been thinking of getting another gun. So we went there to compare between the guns of the one he wanted. Anyway while walking inside it’s huge! There is animals everywhere AND they have a small aquarium inside. It’s was so cool!

It was so cool to see everything! We ended up not buying a gun because there was no one to help us. They only had one person helping everyone and there was a line.  Also my fault too I convinced Jeff that he should wait to buy might go gun shopping with his sister in November. However I wanted to hold one to see which one I liked but I wasn’t willing to wait hours to do so. I think it was the Smith Wesson Shield and Compact to see the difference.  Dawn wants us to go shooting. I am excited about that. I haven’t gone in years because around that time when we were going shooting and taking the class, I got carpel tunnel surgery done on my right hand. Since I am right handed hard to shoot a gun. I had so much fun shooting. So that will be fun!

We worked more on our wall. This was Saturday.

This is Sunday.

See the wall on the right we are going to that little part of the wall with the boards. Also that is where our pellet stove will go as well.

The Wall

coollogo_com-105222289

We decided to do an accent wall where we put up the wall. That sounds funny. Anyway we went to Home Depot and bought a ton of wood. It seems like a ton of wood. And cut them in different sizes. Then all week I have been staining the wood. It’s quite a workout on the arms to do so.

This is an example of what we are doing:

We picked out four different colors. Two dark and two light.

Here are the colors we did.

Everything expect the Golden Pecan we did one coat. The Golden Pecan got two because it was too light for one coat.

We would put it up this week however I am going to Minnesota with April. She is getting a lot of testing done at the Mayo Clinic. I hope that she will be okay. I am glad I can go with her and be with her at this time she needs me. I am not looking forward however to spending time with her mom. It’s going to be her mom, Brandon which is April’s brother-in-law, April and myself going.

I hope that we aren’t gone all week but if we are. What can I do? I will be there.

Saturday September 9th was my mom’s birthday. It was okay. She told me that she wanted earrings. I picked these out on Amazon.

img_20160910_110552494img_20160910_110607050_hdr

I really like the box these came in. Jeff said it’s not note worthy to say but I disagree. These earrings are cubic zirconia. So pretty! My mom loved them and even my dad said they were beautiful.

I state that her birthday was okay because all the grand kids were there and they were being brats. We ate at a pizzeria and the pizza was okay. It wasn’t the best ever it was just pizza. However while there here is a cute pic of us.

Jeff and I decided to make the wall we built into an accent wall. We went to Home Depot and got a lot of wood! Then some stain. We are going to stain the wood different colors and put them up.

First step cut them all.

Throughout the week we will be working on this.

This weekend was a work week for Jeff. We did do more of the wall. We got it framed out for our TV.

And framed for a cabinet that will hold all our network stuff.

We will get there. This took all day Saturday to do.

We celebrated Jeff’s birthday sort of. Jeff and his dad worked on the truck. It took almost six hours then we celebrated his birthday with cake and pizza.

It was a good day even though Jeff had to work hard on his birthday.

Hanging out with my mom wasn’t too bad. I say Lori she owns her own hairdresser business. I haven’t seen her in five years and we didn’t skip a beat. She is a silly woman and funny. I think she is worth driving to Appleton to get my hair cut and colored from her instead of doing the hair coloring myself. Plus since I have known her a long time she gives me a deal. I had my hair cut and colored for only sixty five dollars! That is cheap! If I went anywhere else that would be easily over a hundred dollars. When I have a good hair day I will take a pic of my new color. It’s brown now instead of black.

We finally did it! Now we are committed. Funny. We took out that accent wall in our living room. Today someone is coming to pick up the fireplace and the chimney. I always say if it’s free someone will take it. So far it has been true for us.

It was so much work! I knew the fireplace was going to be heavy just not that heavy. We also found out that whoever put the fire place in did it incorrectly. Because they did not put enough support for the roof. It’s a miracle that the house is intact right there. Like usual when the previous owners put the accent wall in it was held together by a billion nails. Apparently they owned a nail store. We know they did it because when we took down the ramp that was in the garage it was held together by a billion nails as well. Everything they did to this house is held to together by so many nails!

We for the just this week we have tarp wall. Funny! It’s strange to hear crickets in the living room.

We also got a new oven. Remember Jeff started a fire in our oven and it was ruined? Yeah we finally got a new one. We debated on getting a used one to a new one. We have never had a new one before. So we needed to get stuff for our bathroom so we decided on new. It’s a convection oven. That means things cook faster. It does! It’s so cool and we like the look of it.

Bad part. I had to help get it off the truck. I am not an upper body strength person. It was so heavy even with both of us carrying it. I was really sore on Sunday.

Last weekend we had the Amish guy Melvin come over and take out our chimney. Amish people fascinate me. I think because they are so different. I didn’t know this but the guy used powered tools. Didn’t know they could. Must be just for work maybe? Unsure but interesting. He brought his three little boys with him as well. How different Amish children are compared to other kids. They were all well behaved and weren’t running around screaming or whatever. So unlike my niece and nephews. Funny Jeff said they kept calling him sir.

I finished the first technically the second book in it’s series. The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. Wow! I love this series! I so can’t wait to read the next book but first I am going to read the new Harry Potter book. I have mix feelings on this book only because of what April said. She is a huge Harry Potter fan and she didn’t really like this book. So I am hoping it’s not dumb. The Throne of Glass makes me excited because I have been looking for another series to read. The last series I read was the Hunger Games. Loved the first book but the rest I could do without. I really hated the last book. I only saw the first movie and I was done with it. But Throne of Glass I love the main character and how sassy she is.

That’s Life

Oh my knee it hurts so badly! And it’s swollen too. But had to get things done on the house this last weekend.

I didn’t tell you but an Mennonite man I think he is because he lives in a neighborhood so Mennonite. He gave us a quote to work on our roof. He is going to take out our chimney stack then patch it and fix the roof where the tree fell last year. That means that Jeff and I had to demo our garage wall so he can get to our fireplace box.

I am scared of heights and I had to go way up in our garage. I was very scared but I did it, it was also hard because of my knee. I was in a lot of pain at the end of it.

I told him I would put this pic up. Funny. He’s so cute even when working.

Funny I told Jeff I haven’t felt that hot working since I worked in a warehouse. The same amount of air moves through our garage as it did in the warehouse. It was so hot!

I had to add this pic. I haven’t posted a Scotty and Koko pic in awhile. Cuties!

I got to work on Rick Grimes this weekend and finally got some of his torso done. I don’t think I will be done by Jeff’s birthday. I underestimated the time it would take to complete. I am getting there.

Bathroom

coollogo_com-57994535

This last weekend we demoed the bathroom. Jeff and Ken took out the vanity, toilet, mirror and counter. Looks bare in there. All that is left is the shower tub.

I had to rip out the floor. It was hard! Those corners had me swearing at it. Funny! The people who ever did that floor really didn’t do a good job. The middle was easy to rip out but they glued in the corners like those will never coming out! It was frustrating. But I got it out.

Here is the before and after:

Next week Friday we start our new bathroom. I can’t wait till it’s done.

It was a circus!

coollogo_com-232463350Figure of speech.

Yesterday May 3 2015 we went to the house. We wanted to take pics and to get some measurements. The day before that my parents called and asked if they could come out and see the house. Sure no problem. I knew it was going to be Jeff, Ken, our realtor and myself.

What I wasn’t counting on is all the extra people. They only accepted our offer we officially close on the house June tenth then the house is officially ours. Since it’s a fixer upper we wanted to get measurements so we can get an idea of a floor plan.

Jeff and I were the first to show up. So Jeff and I started right away measuring stuff on the outside of the house. A few minutes later our Realtor showed up and he brought his son. After that my parents. The realtor let us in the house and everyone headed in all different directions. Then Ken, his brother Jules and his dad Al all showed up. This house isn’t very big so it quickly became crowded.

Everyone started to ask so many questions and pulling us in all different directions. When we just wanted to measure things.

Then came everyone’s ideas on what we should do to the house. It was crazy. First I like to say Jeff’s Uncle Jules is full of bullshit. He is a pathological liar. He told us how much money everything was going to take and what to do. He always acts like he knows everything. Later Jeff and I had a good laugh about it. The funny part is Ken knows it too and we all just sigh or laugh at what Jules says.

The only person who had any good ideas was my mom. Which I am not surprised she is good at creating things.

Even though it was chaos for an hour we got some great ideas.

Like I promised here are some pics of the house.
