Goodbye glasses. Goodbye them falling off my face when I exercise. Goodbye to scratches, them being dirty all the time! Even when I just cleaned them. Why?! Goodbye smudges! Goodbye never knowing where to put them when I want to sleep in the car or elsewhere. Out of style? Who cares now!
I am so happy to have not have to wear you anymore!
I was very nervous getting Lasik. Also I couldn’t find anywhere of someone describing what they felt like when getting it done. Not sure why? I wondered how they would keep me from blinking.
At first they look into your eyes. Then they tell you what’s going to happen. To me it was like okay get on with it, I am nervous! I got a lovely hair net to wear and then the doctor comes in and gave me some relaxing pills, Ibuprofen and Valium. I have never had Valium before so wasn’t sure how it would make me feel. After that I went into the suite as they call it. There is wear I laid down and the woman put numbing drops in my eyes. The first time it burned but as she went for the third time and fourth time couldn’t feel it. Thought this was funny and clever at the same time they had me hold on to a teddy bear. The woman said to keep the hands busy and it did.
The doctor then put a plastic round piece over my eyes to keep me from blinking. That makes sense! I figured it was going to be like in horror films with the metal eye things. Ha! Nothing like that. The doctor press on my eyes and I look at a blinking red light that was the laser. The machines sounds like loud clicking noises but wasn’t scary. After the laser goes for a little bit the doctor takes off the plastic part and okay yes I could feel the flap. Sounds horrible but it didn’t hurt, more like taking something off the skin. The doctor proceeds to wipe the eye with a brush and then puts the flap back. Puts the plastic part over my eye look at the laser and the machine goes. All I saw was white around like a circle and the blinking red of the laser.
No it doesn’t hurt because of the numbing drops. And it only took ten minutes so crazy! I could read something afterwards that how fast it works. Afterwards I saw haziness and that is normal. They say go home and sleep, I have to tell you that really, really helped sleeping!
The next day I saw the eye doctor again and he said I had perfect vision even though even now I still have trouble with light. That is normal. What I don’t like about this is the regiment of eye drops. I have to take three different kinds plus artificial tears. The drops feel like they dry out my eyes terribly. Not much I can do about that. Good thing I only have two weeks of drops to do.
One more thing light. I don’t like it. In our house has been dark. Ha! I hope soon I won’t have trouble with light. I see halos around clocks and such. It’s strange. Other than that. I am happy with the results! I would recommend doing this because it’s worth it!
