Horse Show

Saturday I got to see April ride in her first horse show and it was different and fun at the same time.

I have never seen a horse show competition ever in my life. Only on the internet and on TV. I wanted to go show my support to April and of course see the horses. I wasn’t sure what to expect even though April told me. I didn’t know that the audience sat in the middle of the arena. Thought that was interesting.

Another reason why I say it was different is how everyone acted. Now I understand this is all about the riders. But I felt a bit uneasy and like what should I do? Feeling. This is why, April had to be there at eight and the show didn’t start till nine. The instructor wanted April to be there early to help out. When we got there I went in with April to see what it was like in there and hopefully meet some people.

Once inside it’s like they all had everything done. April really didn’t do much. I was going to sit outside in the car and wait till nine. I felt like I was in the way. As I started to leave the owner told me to stay just stay off to the side. So I got sort of nervous and I felt awkward just standing there while other people worked. Also no one introduced themselves. I had to ask April who was who and even now, I can’t tell you what there names are. Thought that was strange.

As the show draws nearer a lot more people started to show up. We were concerned if Linda (April’s mom) would make it. She is one of those people who says they will and then never shows up. However she did come at the last minute. Next time I will take a pic of the arena. It’s hard too because I was sitting in the middle. But they do have a lounge that sits up a little above the arena and I will sit there next time.

I will have to sit up there because I am allergic to horses and hay. I thought I was fine but the next day, my face puffed up and it hurt. Sitting in the lounge would have been better for me because it’s away from the horses and hay. Lesson learned.

April was in three events and she placed in all three. She even got first! She would say “I won’t get first.” I would “Yes you will.” And she did! Blue is first, red is second and yellow is third. She even got a statue.

She did awesome! It was cool to actually see her ride then just in a video. She was really going! I saw the confidence she got after her events. The next show is going to be awesome.

Love this pic because she looks at me and smiles.

I am still unsure how they score it. What I gather it’s a lot like bull riding. The animal and the rider get a score then they are combined. In horsing riding they have an event called Pleasure. Does the rider make the riding the horse pleasurable. I thought that was interesting then the horse gets the ribbon.

We stayed for a long time but it was getting to the point where we and few others where the only ones left. It was fun to watch them but it was time to go.

When we were about to leave April said goodbye to the owner. I was hoping he would say to goodbye to me too but nope. I thought that was awkward a bit. I know there were more events as we left. I don’t know I expect people to react to one way and they go another.

I have to say the owner is compassion about his riders and horses. Just I would say not everyone else. Which is good to have that compassion about that.
